Soon entire nation will be bidding on IPL teams as the 10th edition of Indian Premier League may begin from 5th April this year while the players’ auction will be held in Bengaluru on February 20. Unlike every other year this year we might be seeing a Rourkelite hitting towering sixes in IPL. Even as a bonus we might be seeing another exceptional cricketer from Sundergarh in IPL.
This year’s Indian Premier League as well as the auction is way more special for Odisha as, in this season OCA recommended highest ever players to BCCI for IPL auction till date. From Rourkela Odisha Ranji T20 captain Govind Poddar and from Sundergarh Ranjit Singh both are selected in the list of 10 to be auctioned at IPL. The 19year old right-hand-batsman Ranjit Singh started his first class career just 2 years back on 7th November 2015.
In the same way Govind Poddar is not a new name in domestic cricket world. Started his cricket career playing for Rourkela, this hot shot cricketer has already played 50 first class games and fetched Odisha many wins under his captaincy.
Wouldn’t it be nice if this time he gets selected in this auction and we ‘ll get a chance to see him representing Rourkela in the IPL. Who knows if these players continues to amaze selectors in this way, soon enough they’ll be bleeding blue playing for team India.
