Born in Sundargarh, Dr. Mukut Minz has completed his MBBS at Sambalpur is the most renowned surgeon of India. Dr Mukut Minz, head of transplant surgery at Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMR), Chandigarh, is now mentoring the Odisha government’s plan to set up a kidney transplant unit at SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack.
Dr Minz, a native of Odisha’s Sundargarh district, has conducted more than 3,400 successful kidney transplants, which is among the highest in the country.
He performed 3,400 kidney transplants and six kidney plus pancreas transplants in his career spanning over 36 years.“People used to laugh at me when I chose transplantation. Then they made fun of me, but now, almost everybody wants to opt for transplant.”-he said in an interview to an English daily.

Not only that, On 16 November, Swaraj herself had posted on Twitter that she was in AIIMS because of kidney failure. Swaraj, who has been in and out of the hospital for last few months, was admitted to AIIMS on 7 November. After Swaraj made her health conditions public on social media, several people had offered their kidneys to her. But it’s Dr. Mukut Minz who and his 50 members team who saved her life by a successful transplantation of kidney. After the successful surgery the President Honorable Dr. Pranab Mukherjee himself tweeted wishing her a speedy recovery.
