The step made it clear for everyone that the Modi govt. deal with the guideline of India first and Indian’s first!
Recently Assam releases the final NRC [National Register of Citizens] contains names of Indian nationals of Assam. The NRC was prepared in 1951 to recognize the Indian citizens living in Assam and today after the final draft get published, more than 40 lakh people may face extradition from India and as many says, most of them are Bangladeshi illegal immigrants.
While the opposition leader Rahul Gandhi hits out at PM Modi and called it “tardy execution of this critical and highly sensitive exercise”. West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee said that the govt. is targeting Muslim population in Assam to divide and rule.
The Modi government has affirmed that the draft is not last; all those missing from the citizen’s list will receive a letter and will be given a reasonable opportunity to proof of their citizenship. Failiing in which will bring about deporation of those people to Bangladesh.
While Assam is all prepared to face any kind of communal disturbances and experts are keeping their eyes from Social Media to the ground exercises.
“The NRC had spotted and made incise move against groups that were trying to instigate communal violence using campaigning platforms like Avaaz.org. On 12 July, a petition on Avaaz.org created a stir by quoting misleading information about the NRC process. Over a thousand citizens had signed up in support of the petition before the NRC social media team could track it, discredit it as fake and take it down.”
In a very similar way in Odisha, the absence of bonafide information on the number of Bangladeshi migrants residing in the state and their unconfirmed identity could posture security risk to Odisha, experts believed. In 2015 CM Naveen patnaik himself informed the Odisha assembly that nearly 3,987 infiltrators are living in Odisha and every one of them are from Bangladesh replying to a written question of BJP MLA Dilip Kumar Ray.
In this way, is it workable for Odisha to complete a comparable sort of drive like Assam to extradite Bangladeshis back to their nation, who may turn into a potential dangers to state security!
