You just logged out from your office and now you are on your way to home.
You look left,
You look right!
An auto is approaching towards you. You signal the driver to stop. The driver looks shady and probably drunk too but you see no other choice but to get on board because it’s getting late. The whole journey is spent with you praying on the back seat, “Mata Rani, Sahin Salamat Pahuncha Dena”.
Wouldn’t it be easier if the journey was tension free with someone you can relate with and feel safe with?
The Nirbhaya case was an eye opening incident which led to the government working hard on women’s safety issues. Today women are self dependent and they work day and night regardless of the dangers lurking outside ready to prance upon any possible opportunity.
To deal with this issue, the PINK AUTO initiative was fabricated. Apart from providing employment to women and making them independent, Pink Auto is a great solution for women’s safety. The women driving the auto rickshaws are trained by the authorities in basic self defence so that it may come in handy when situation demands.
Following the demand for women’s safety and employment, now the steel city Rourkela is all set to launch this service. The only difference being, Bhubaneswar’s pink auto service shall include male drivers too but only after extensive screening and psychological tests to ensure proper safety of the passengers. Rourkela’s Pink Auto shall be an all female driver oriented initiative.
When asked in a press conference about the motive behind the initiation of this project, ADM Monisha Banerjee replied;
“To create self-employment among the ladies who are staying under RMC we are going to start this scheme for which we facilitate driving license, auto loan and other requirements for them. The interested women should come forward to avail this facility”
