It’s not even 24 hours completed and Odisha govt. cleared their stand on the proposal of banning cellphones in educational institutions across the state.
Odisha government has no intention of banning mobile phones in schools and colleges, higher education minister Ananta Das clarified on Monday amid statewide uproar over the purported move to bar students from using cellphones inside campuses.
The news sparked a sharp reaction among the students but the minister have a valid point for not implementing the proposal.
“I only told them that the matter will be examined.I believe steps can be taken to prevent the students from using the phones while in class instead of banning them altogether. The universities and colleges have to come out with proposals about how this can be done.”
It means govt. is looking for other alternatives to implement rules with a new proposal.
While different associations and teachers are still advocating for the ban of Mobile phones, Anant Das came up with completely opposite statement that “Technology definitely improves productivity; so, when needed, cell phones can be used in classrooms as a teaching tool”.
