Each of the three new cyber police station will have two inspectors, four sub-inspectors, two assistant sub-inspectors and three constables.
Naveen Patnaik has also approved creation of 33 posts to man the upcoming three cyber police stations. Odisha’s first cyber police station is currently working from Cuttack police crime branch office. It has been reported that only in Rourkela many people are duped by cyber criminals which costs lakhs of rupees & in some cases the investigation is still going on.
Investigating cyber crimes needs technology intervention. So, officers from each police station will be selected and will undergo training in the subject of cyber crime and its investigation. While the cyber police Station in Cuttack will have jurisdiction in the coastal districts, the one at Berhampur will look after the state’s southern region.
As per the report of DNA in 01 December 2015 initially police stations were planned to set up at Rourkela, Berhampur and Bhubaneswar only. But now as per the current report Sambalpur has also been added and both Sambalpur & Rourkela cyber police stations will be assigned to look after central and western parts of the state, the sources said.
