If you remember the disgusting and disgraceful images of 1996 semi-final at Eden garden Kolkata then you must have remember the 2015 Barabati stadium incident. What exactly happened on 5th October 2015 at Barabati stadium, Cuttack that is still hunting Virat Kohli brigade.
It was the 2nd T20 International & South Africa won by six wickets to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match contest and that’s where it all started which ashamed the entire nation internationally. The unruly crowd of Cuttack started throwing bottles and projectiles to the ground and security staffs and play was halted once for several minutes. Odisha Cricket Association made several announcement on mic to control the crowd, but all efforts wasted.
Crowd behavior turned ugly once India started losing wickets rapidly. Not finding any reason to cheer for their team, the restless fans even started cheering loudly for extras, as the boundaries dried up.
It then began throwing water bottles on to field during the innings break. The situation was so out of control that finally the paramilitary forces took the stand to control the situation.
What Has Changed From Then
As per hindustantimes report this time police are not going to allow water bottles or water piuches in the stands. There will be water dispensers and OCA will also be providing drinking water through taps at various parts of the stands & will also hang a net around the stands, just in case. And also more than 3500 security personnels will be deployed for security only.
When DADA Stands Against The Ban On Cuttack
From ICC to cricket legends, when everyone suggested for a ban on Cuttack Barabati stadium for the shameful incident, it was only Sourav Ganguly who came in support of the association and stood up against the ban.
As the India team is going to play the crucial ODI against England, we request every fan to behave properly. You take control over your emotions and Virat will take control over the scores!
