Cashless transaction system will be facilitated at the ticket counters during the ODI match between India and England in Barabati Stadium scheduled to be held on January 19, 2017. This was informed by Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) Secretary Asirbad Behera during a meeting on Sunday.
“The spectators can avail the tickets by paying cash up to Rs 2, 000 while expenditure pertaining to the match beyond Rs 500 will be made through cheques and drafts. Besides, the affiliated agencies will get the tickets through cheques and drafts. The tickets will be sold online on January 2. While the tickets will be sold through affiliated agencies on January 14 and 15, the same would be available in counters on January 16 and 17, 2017”, Behera said.
He also added that “Since there is a shortage of cash across the state due to demonetisation, we have decided to go cashless or allow digital transactions for the benefit of the people.”
Out of 43,000 tickets, 25 percent would be sold online. The online sale of tickets will be on January 2 while the OCA-affiliated agencies will sell tickets on January 14 and 15.
Tickets at the counters of the Barabati Stadium will be available on January 16 and 17.
England will play three ODIs against India, the match at Cuttack being the second match.
