The temple architecture of Odisha holds a magnetic appeal that lies in it’s indigenous glory. From the towering heights of Lingaraj in Bhubaneswar, Shri Jagannath in Puri and Sun Temple at Konark to the lovely minature ones on the Mahendragiri are true specimens of superb artistic excellence. The busy fingers that chiseled these extraordinary works of odishi art are still alive in the remote villages and traditional pilgrimage centers in the state. They are devoted to etching palm-leaf manuscripts, casting of Dhokra figurines, carving of stone and wood, painting of brilliant pattachitras, fashioning of silver jewellery, making of bell-metal ware, stitching of dazzling appliqué , bamboo arts, cane articles and weaving of Odisha’s spectacular gorgeous ikat silks and cottons.

This is the place where historic kalinga War took place and emperor Ashoka accepted Budhhism from the Budhhist Guru, Upagupta. Looking at the Blood shed, killings and cry of kalinga’s soldiers, civilians including women.
Ashok took a vow not to take sword again and not to fight another battle; but to preach the message of Lord Buddha- the message of Peace, non-violence and meditation .
The vast and verdant coastline of Odisha offers some of the finest beaches in the world. Virgin and unspoilt they are becoming regular haunts of beache-combers and sea-worshipepers.
It also provides some beautiful lakes and well as water land and natural shelter of many rare creatures and wildlife .
